It's the little things

I got landed with the agreement to swap bedrooms and although I was panicking as to where to put all of my junk, I found space (in other people's wardrobes) and squeezed things on shelves, stuffed clothes in drawers stole the shelf stand from the bathroom. But my most favourite part about moving into this bedroom is that I can personalize it and really own it as my flatmate never did that. I find it's really cosy and doesn't take long to heat,compare to my bigger room which was like an igloo!

I enjoy spending time in this room so much more that I did in the other room. Kind of wish I had this room from the start. Strange that, I remember praying that I would get the big room once my name hit the bottom of the hat.
But it really is the little things that make this little room work. Hopefully it will be a better environment for me to get on with my work now!

What is important to you to have in your room? Do you like little bits and bobs like me? Or are you a minimalist with just the essentials?

Crop top: Hot or Not?

As a student I love a good bargain. Whats better than primark? A primark SALE! But is it really worth all of the hastle? We all know the battle field, the struggle to find your size and actually see the clothes.
So when I came across a wee black velvet crop top, in my size and only £2, I had to get it.

It's a lot like the one with model is wearing;

Although she's not looking too impressed with it either. Eeshk!

Paired with a high waisted flippy skirt and heels, I felt great and danced my socks offs! Like arms flailing, hair whipping and fist pumping.

 And apparently I danced the dye from the top off too.

Morning after, I go for a shower and I had black dye all around my arms and shoulders. I looked bruised! I look like I had been attacked.

But here's my question, should I actually expect this from clothes whether it's a bargain or not?

In the words of Miranda Priestley

"This... 'stuff'? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that, that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of 'stuff'.
The Devil Wears Prada

It's why I love fashion. It is inspirational, liberating, creative, expressive and can change people.

Moving day #studentlife #tips

Now we're set up with a beautiful flat, me and my 3 girlies. There is one problem, It has a small box room with 3 others being very reasonably sized.

At the start of our tenancy, me and M (it was only between us for some reason) put our names into a hate, deciding who would be cursed with the box room. M got it. YUUUS!! But then for some unknown reason I decided to swap with her half way through the year. NOOO! And swapping day has arrived.

I have no idea where I'll put all of my things. However, after browsing through tumblr, we heart it and pintrest, I'm excited to start decorating. I can see lots of pretty mirrors, fairy lights and making most of what I have. I'm good at that sort of thing.

But I probably will want my big room back. I mean;

LOOK AT MY PRETTY ROOM!

So my tips for students in small rooms is to brace yourself for the worst, so that when you move into wee rooms, like student accommodation or unfair flats, it will never be as bad as you think. Let pintrest and we heart it do the work and get really nice bedding. I know I will be forced to stay in my bed because it takes up the entire space.

Here are some inspirations I have come across

I'm making sure I spend as much time as possible today in MY room. But I know box room awaits....

Everything is so shiny and new.

Hello!
 Well here it is. It's 1.10am in Edinburgh and I have decided to start a brand new shiny blog. I've made my way through tumblr but I am getting a bit tired of the same teen struggles showing up on my dash. I'm turning 20 this year and I have enough troubles and do not need to know that "followingthedarkness" is not like the other girls who wear make up and short skirts. I like short skirts and make up makes me look alive.

So I'm in Edinburgh, studying Acting and Performance and hopefully will have a diploma by June. Fingers crossed!

My mother tells me that I have an obsessive personality. So I  can easily become engrossed in all kinds of stuff like; films, actors, fashion, fitness, hair, music, coffee, coffee, coffee, food, food, photography and pretty things. I am mesmerised by different cultures but yet to experience any others that British. Speaking of which, I also love tea and biscuits. And cats. Meow.

Don't worry. We're all mad here. It's what makes us interesting.
