Welcome to my wardrobe: My wee tartan skirt

Looking through Glamour Magazine, Company, Vogue and Porter, I became very excited with the new season styles. As you can tell from my previous posts I have been spending time on Polyvore creating outfits. For the past week I have been going back to tartan skirts as the staple item for my wish list outfits. I don't know what it is but I love them so much. Tartan is always so popular for autumn/winter and after the referendum (no matter what you voted) being Scottish is being embraced.

I'm so proud of Scotland and it's enthusiasm through this time. I love the sound of the bagpipes and they always get a funny feeling when I hear them, I love that my grandparents can't understand what the Scots say, it's like a secret language and since living here for 17 years, I can get patriotic for Scotland. Yet, I do not own any tartan.

Say whaaaat?

Yeah. I know.

I have been on the hunt for a tartan skirt since last year. Last night I spent 3 hours searching the internet for one that I really liked and today the search ended. Today I got my skirt. In the unlikely place of New Look during my lunch break. I tend to avoid it since you can't cross the street without seeing someone wearing something from New look but this skirt fits perfectly and when I wear it, to quote Jessie J, "I'm feeling sexy and free. Like glitter's raining on me".
Those polyvore outfits can now come to life!

Skirt: New Look £17.99
Jumper: Primark £12
Boots: h&m £29.99

Polyvore creations

I like mini skirts, ankle boots and tote bags. A lot.

I have noticed that I'm posting very similar posts recently and I have to admit it is because I have been so busy. I don't want to leave my blog dormant so I've been updating it as much as I can with little posts like this. I am getting more time off now since the summer is over and work is dying down. Thank god! Keep your eyes peeled for my next post and thank you so much for sticking around. :) Big Hugs and kisses!

That's all for now!

On my way home from working at the pub, I have recently found myself gazing into New Look's window on Princes Street. They have done well for themselves this season. I really like what they have going on. The tartan, the capes and the jumpers. It's like they are tailoring to different styles this time. They have the boho\hipster, the trend setters and the grunge girls. With the knits and shades, I think this is a perfect outfit for autumn. I really like burgundy and blue together. The blue in the skirt just lifts it a bit. I would wear the skirt with my go-to cosy tights from Primark. If you haven't yet tried them, I urge you to get a couple of pairs. They are a life saver! Skirts are still acceptable in the colder months and the 60's mini skirt is making a statement.  I love the 70s/60s look and have made a little New Look wish list since it is my BIRTHDAY AND PAY DAY THIS FRIDAY! Shopping will be done whether I am hungover or not. It's looking more likely to be honest.

I have already bought a new dress for graduation which is also on Friday so I will be posting photos of that on my instagram. If you're not following me then please do. I'm struggling to sit down and write blog posts at the moment so you can keep an eye on me over at @littlekaatie101 or on twitter @this_katie . I'm a hoot and I follow back. :) A win, win, right?

Stay Fabulous!

Time To Get Yer Layers On!

I just love capes. They are a perfect statement in Scotland. Suddenly you can feel like a Scottish Super Hero, powering through the wind, rain and snow this season.

This Burberry Cape has been seen worn by the lovely Cara Delevingne and she inspired me to put these things together.

Layer up, it's chilly

Mango gray shirt

Burberry red wool cape
$1,460 - net-a-porter.com

H&M high heel booties
$49 - hm.com

H M wool hat
$24 - hm.com

Ulta lipstick

River Island Girls black metallic bow back skater dress
$29 - riverisland.com

I feel like I definitely need to get a cape this season. I already have a floppy hat and I have including my smashing new boots in this set. By adding a belt to a cape, allows there to be some structure if you like the tailored look, which I do sometimes. It can look very classy with a pair of skinny jeans too. Burgundy is the autumn/winter colour which is so rich and can easily be worn. Using accessories of that colour is the perfect transition into the new season. River Island has a wonderful tartan cape that I can see myself investing in. We shall see.

Until next time,

First Steps into Autumn

It is not a secret that I have a love for shoes. I dread to think how much I have spent on shoes in total but I just love the way a new pair of heels feel. They make me feel taller, stronger and confident. A pretty pair of flat dolly shoes use to satisfy me if I was short of cash but since I am constantly on my feet, flat shoes have started to hurt my back.I was on the hunt for months for a pair of perfect shoes to wear for work at White Stuff and go with most of my clothes. I tried on numerous of flat shoes, went to Ireland and tried on every pair in 3 shoe shops, back to Edinburgh and 2 months later, I found The One. (Or two because I have two feet).

Meet the brogues.

With a tiny block heel gives me enough support when standing in the shop all day and they look great with my jeans and dresses. Over the past few years, brogues have been making a statement on catwalks and in shops world wide. They are a perfect alternative to dolly shoes especially when you're from Scotland and it rains the majority of the time.

Alexa Chung: Queen of brogues

I have worn them for a week and can feel them stretching to my feet and they are getting so much more comfortable. You all know the pain of new leather shoes but you just have to grit your teeth and bare it. Just keep telling yourself, "IT WILL BE WORTH IT!"

The brogues aren't the only new additions to my shoe collection. Say hello to my new autumn boots.

I wore them to a photoshoot (more about that soon) with a little black and white shift dress. Being a reasonable £29.99 from H&M, these shoes are surpringly comfortable and a rich burgandy colour. I am so ready for autumn. New season fashion gives me that "new book" buzz, which, lets be honest, probably means more shopping.

Have you updated your new season wardobe yet?

Edinburgh Fringe Festival. My Little Review

Prepare to be #UNBORED!

2,183,591 estimated tickets sold (up 12% from 2013!) for

- 49,497 performances
- 3,193 shows

The Usual View of the Royal Mile

Crowds gather in front of stages on the Royal Mile, people march over the cobbles and I take in the buzzing scene with the mix of sounds. Musicians, performers and entertainers showcase their talents every year at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the city is filled with excitement and people from all over the world.
As a recent graduate of Acting and Performance, the Fringe Festival is my favourite time of year. Last year I managed to see 15 shows as well as work Front Of House for a show. This year I was limited with my time with having 2 jobs but I managed to squeeze in a few shows for my 4th year "fringing it."
