Budget Beauty Haul

Who said you have to spend a million dollars to look million dollars? Being a student again has reinforced my passion for saving money and finding cheaper options for those most wanted items.

I was in dire need for some new make up essentials and managed to pick them up while saving a bunch. I came home satisifyed with;

Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer (holy grail)

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner

Seventeen Phwooar Paint Concealer

Primark Lip Liner

Primark Dark Cherry Lipstick

Primark eyeshadow/concealer brush

Primark Beauty Foundation Sponge

Are you ready for this?....

I spent less than £30.

Whaat? Even with the Benefit foundation, I hear you scream!

Oh! I have my ways!

So you know those Boots and Debenhams beauty cards that you've got in your purse? They are actually very VERY helpful when trying to scrimp and save.

I saved up £10 on my boots card without even realising. I only had to pay for the Seventeen concealer (which I reviewed here) which was £5.40 I had a fiver on my Debenhams card and it was 10% off. Always look for deals when make up shopping. There are always offers on and they really come in handy.

Primark's make up collection has really surprised me. Their lipliner and lipstick stay on for a good while, even when Im eating and drinking! The lipliner is only £1 and lipstick only 80p. YES! 80P!! I love it! It's perfect for Autumn! I've never worn such a dark red and didn't want to spend a lot for just trying it out.
Their beauty sponge is a fantastic alternative to Real Techniques Beauty Blender. Like, why would I spend over £5 for a sponge?! Primark's is selling their's for £1.50. #justsaying.

So next time you're on the hunt for make up, take my student tips and looks for offers and make the most of your store point cards. Just because your fave beauty vlogger is using foundation containing gold and unicorn dust, doesn't mean you have to, to look just as, or more, faaabulous.

Your Wardrobe Essentials with RelaxFeel*

When does the excuse "New chapter, new clothes" start to become over used? Oh well. New clothes are always essential. Excitingly, up and coming brand, RelaxFreel aided my shopping addiction.

RelaxFeel's Designer, Yolanda Chan, contacted me and offered me to pick two items of clothing to style from their website. This was so tough! Like, Oh My God! How am I meant to choose?!

So I had to be logical. An essential patterned shirt, (you know how much I love a funky shirt). Teamed with a suede jacket and a necklace to bring out the autumnal oranges out, you are set for AW15.

A shirt is my biggest go-to. I love how easy you can throw them on and feel so smart and sophisticated. Any form of tailored clothing looks expensive and chic. Then you can accessories to fit your look. A colourful necklace is always an easy choice for me. You can dress up a good shirt with heels and a statement necklace or dress down simply with a relaxed feel.

A bright patterned jumpsuit was my second choice. I know! I know it's autumn but I never got my heatwave summer and I thought I could persuade the sun. But I do plan on going to Italy next year. Then I can fling the jumpsuit out. The material is so soft and so comfortable that it feels like I'm wearing glamorous pyjamas. And who doesn't want to wear Pj's outside and still be fabulous?!

I teamed this jumpsuit with my favourite statement necklace and I am wearing wedges. I love how the fabric falls gracefully to floor. It lengthens out the body and gives the illusions of longer legs. Perfect for my little body!

It's all about embracing what you have and being at your most fabulous while feeling relaxed and elegant.

RuPaul's Drag Race: A Love Story.

"If you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you going to love somebody else? Can I get an amen?"

Well I certainly love RuPaul's Drag Race. I have found my new idols in life.

Introduced to me by my flatmate, we managed to get through 4 seasons within about 2 months. I was quite proud of that. But my obsession with the tv show was just the beginning.

Then it was following them all on Instagram, watching their music videos (my favourite comes from Alaska Thunderfuck from the Planet Glamtron!), watching their Youtube videos and watching local Drag Queens in the Edinburgh night clubs.
I am overwhelmed by their confidence and the pure sass that the girls hold on their shoulders! I have so much admiration for every single person who does what they do because it makes them happy. They have the confidence, clothes and make up that are my life goals!

When I was little I was told to "do whatever makes me happy" but sadly there are still people who are restricted in society and feel that they cannot be themselves. Hearing the Drag Queens' stories broke my heart, some of them were disowned or scared to come out until then.
But what you just have got to love about them is the drive and love for drag that they have. They put on the make up, wig and become fabulous Glamazons (you can buy that on iTunes) and own that stage.
As part of the challenges the Queens have to make their own outfits based on challenges and it is amazing what they can do with some fabric and a glue gun. It got me thinking about making clothes. I was half way down the street to grab a glue gun until I remembered the time I glued my fingers to a dream catcher. But anyway...I am definitely taking on their strong mentality. It is like nothing can bring these "bitches down".

They own every piece of that stage with sass and fabulousness.

Raja owning it

And there make up is (often) on point. Like, those Queens have my contouring goals!

And they can drop it like it hot!

Their fierceness, talent and confidence is something everyone should try. Sometimes it's good take a bit of Willim confidence and hold your head up as high as your hair! I am so excited to see my favourite Drag Latrice Royale and Mannilla next week in Glasgow for my 21st! It's going to be a party (in Adore's voice).
Can't wait!

And of course, Ru Paul is taking his show to the UK with Katie Price and Jonathan Ross as his panel. I'm definitly not going to miss it!

#STUDENTLIFE: Let's get organised.

Starting university whether you're 18, 21 or 41 is a scary thing. It is said to be the best years of your life but as I prepare myself (and my liver) for my first week at uni, I can't help feeling anxious and a little lost.
Oh my god, what if they don't like me? What if I've forgotten how to write an essay? What if I get lost? What if I can't do the coursework? Oh bloody hell, Katie, get a grip!

I'm going to be honest, I have no idea what I'm getting myself in for. But hey, I'm taking you all with me!

Over this past week I've realised the importance of organisation before the classes even begin.

Get all your notebooks and planners!
I always find that new stationary really motivates me and keeps everything in order.

Use Facebook!
Love it or hate it but social media is here to stay and has been the best way for me to find out information on the Freshers page. I also found out who was in my course and spoke to a few folk in my class. It really helps and puts nerves at ease. I know that when I was freaking out, I could see so was everyone else. So I wasn't alone.

Work out your time table.
Get your head around the fact that you won't be in 5 days a week, like school, and you will be sitting in lectures. So if you had time between school and uni. Brace yourself.

Take a walk around the university
If you can, go to the uni before your first lecture so you have an idea of where your going. Don't want to be late for your first class!

Think of outfits!
This one might just be for me, but I have put 5 outfits together. I'm the one who gets that buzz when I make a really good outfit and feel on top of the world.

Most importantly, deep breaths!! Don't panic! Keep calm and carry on! I have so many different ways to say "chill the fuck out" but I can't stress it enough! Because I am one big mess and you're not the only one so don't freak out. (That's a note to self).

If you're going onto uni, good luck and let me know how you get on too! Keep an eye out for more #studentlife posts as I go through my first year of university. First lecture on Tuesday!
Wow. Things just got v real.

Until next time

AW15 Must Haves and Must Wishes

New Flat. New Home Wear.

It actually happened. I moved to Stirling. I'm still getting my head around it but I have made my room so cosy and picked up some little nick nacks along the way.

The first thing I do when I get a new space is put my little touch in it. Of course my Audrey Hepburn canvas is the first to go up, my bedding and then my rugs. The clothes and shoes take a while, not going to lie, but there's so much! At least I can see where I've spent my wages. I regret nothing.
Anyway, back to the bits and bobs...

Primark has great little candles. I managed to pick these up for only £2 each! They're so cute! I don't even light candles but soo pretty.

I recieved this illustration at a blogger's event from Factory 54 in Glasgow. I love that it has lyrics from Mountains by Biffy Clyro. I loved them when I was younger, still do, and Mountains is one of my favourites.

Primark knows me too well. Of course I can't refuse a coffee related canvas.
And I had no idea how cute Sainsburys' homewear section was! This one is above my desk to keep me motivated.

So there ya have it! I am getting v excited to start uni and get to use the hashtag #studentlife once more. I've missed the student discounts and I'm going to go back to my scrimper saver ways. That means limited shopping.

I know, I know! I don't know how I'll do it! Send me saving money vibes!
This leads me to reveal that I'm going to be doing a #STUDENTLIFE series on my blog. I'm excited for this! I have plans. BIG plans!
So keep an eye out!

Until next time...

Cool For School

As I prepare myself for going back to Uni, I have those first day at school feels. Will the other kids like me? Do I have the right books? Do I have enough clothes? It's a nightmare! But I am here to help you get back to school with confidence.

I use to hate school uniform but the high street have cottoned on to the struggles since I was in the classroom and they provide some great black skirts and a range of shirts. No longer do you have to suffer the tough shirts. H&M have a strong work wear range with a variety of shirts. I prefer the sheer shirts as they're light and floaty. Add a cami top or a crop top for extra details.
You can pick up some great structured skirts which gives your outfit a catwalk feel. You can stride down the corridors like the power hungry learner you are! You own that classroom!

Keep that motivation going by getting some fun and quirky stationary. You will definitely want to write in a motivating notebook with some pretty pens.
Of course, rules are meant to be broken, so keep your chocolate in the "healthy snacks" lunch box which you can get from Clair Accessories. Ooh you rebel!

Most of all, have fun and work hard. Enjoy your year!
